DirecTV, the premier satellite television provider in the USA, launched its DirecTV Starship in October 2007 at the MLB World Series in Boston. This second generation A-170LS Video Lightsign Lightship features the state of the art video screen that displays full color video images day or night.

Throughout 2007 and 2008 the DirecTV Starship has provided aerial coverage of some of the nation's biggest sporting events, including the Daytona 500 and the MLB All-Star Game. The Video Lightsign Lightship fits perfectly with DirecTV's sports marketing strategy, as it can provide live aerial footage of major sports events, while interacting with the crowd through the giant video screen.

The Lightship will be taking the DirecTV message to cities and major events throughout the USA over the coming months.
